Codex Alerts in Notchly

A small Notchly update for Codex users: completion alerts, approval sounds, and a quick settings switch.

Notchly now has a dedicated Codex section in settings. You can enable transparent completion alerts through a local Stop hook, then let Notchly quietly tell you when Codex needs approval or finishes a task.

How to enable it

Open Notchly settings and choose Codex from the sidebar. The setup is just a few steps:

  • 1. Turn on Codex Alerts.
  • 2. Enable Need Approval Sound if you want to hear when Codex is waiting for your approval.
  • 3. Enable Task Completed Sound if you want to hear when Codex finishes a task.
  • 4. Restart Codex so the local Stop hook can start sending completion events to Notchly.
  • Optional: adjust Job Done Duration to choose how long the completion alert stays visible.

What it does

Once enabled, Notchly can show a transparent completion alert when Codex finishes and play subtle sounds for approval requests or completed tasks. It is a small addition, but it makes long Codex sessions easier to follow without constantly watching the terminal.

Preview

There is also a short video preview showing the alert in action. I will keep the article light here, but the preview is useful if you want to see how it feels during a real Codex session.
